Milan: Ones to Watch

Now that Milan Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2016 is in full swing, we want to highlight some local emerging fashion talent. Here, we bring you 5 of the best emerging fashion labels from around Milan.

1. Blon D

Milan: Ones to Watch Blon.D

We talked about Blon D back in June as we believe this label is one of the best emerging brands around. The pieces are amazingly structural yet completely wearable art. This is the Silhouette Cape from the Silhouette Limited Edition collection for Autumn Winter 2015.

2. Matteo Thiela

Milan: Ones to Watch Matteo Thiela

While Matteo's site has an exotic mix of style, some of our favourites are the Water dresses from the Spring Summer 2012 collection. The Water collection uses a silk muslin fabric which is soaked in a special resin. The layered garments evoke thoughts of the seas and ocean winds.

3. Minimal To

Milan: Ones to Watch Minimal To

As the name suggests, Minimal To is an updated take on a minimalist approach to feminine fashion. This piece is from the Spring Summer 2015 collection Human Comedy where the colour palette is muted so that the shapes of the garments are put more starkly into focus.

4. Zora Romanska

Milan: Ones to Watch Zora Romanska

Zora Romanska has an amazing collection of jewellery and hybrid accessory/apparel statement pieces. Our favourite is the Hidden Collection where leather is manipulated with objects embedded in a way to cause the observer to pause and really consider the beauty of each piece.

5. Andreia Chaves

Milan: Ones to Watch Andreia Chaves

Andreia Chaves's artistic footwear has already garnered quite a bit of attention, having pieces on display at the Shoes: Pleasure and Pain exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This piece is called the Invisible Shoe made of a leather interior, 3D printed nylon structure and laser cut mirrored pieces and was created to explore the idea of invisibility through the "chameleon effect."
