We've had our eye on emerging American silver jewellery label Conservation of Matter for a little while now, so it was great to have the chance to experience their work firsthand. Apparently simple designs are brutalist in nature and perfectly exact in production. With the sleek, geometric shapes of these pieces, there is little room for error, of which we saw none. Industrial and raw inspiration create bold looks that defy tradition.
Kyla Katz, the designer behind Conservation of Matter, has not only a background in metal work but also in dance and theatre. She uses this knowledge to create drama in her work. Kyla designs and models each piece by hand before having every piece crafted by experts in their field in New York City.
