Kofta "Fear" Spring Summer 2017 - Erebus

There are few brands who use their craft to create such stunning works of art, and you can count KOFTA among that elite crowd. I've told you about their process in a previous post about their Autumn Winter 2016 Drama collection.

For Spring Summer 2017, Konstantin Kofta explores the beauty, elegance and sensuality of Fear. In Kofta's own words, Fear, "It is one intricate phenomenon. Only living beings may experience fear. The dead are nonchalant. You can not cease once there is no self. You become the absolute silence. Immortal and eternal as the open skies, clear from the doom of an immanent "I" It is important to stop grasping things by their names. Contemplate this feeling and let it reveal itself."

This latest collection was presented in both New York and Paris fashion week's. I had the chance to see the work at Cube Showroom in Paris. From my own perspective, I experienced this collection as a statement on all of the conflicts happening throughout the world right now, and how there is beauty even in darkness. The structures of these bags are very hard, rigid on the outside but lined in a soft suede, referencing the duality of the collection itself. It is rare that a bomb, a grenade and a gas mask could be considered things of beauty but that is exactly what you get with Fear.
