We have stumbled upon this amazing new season-less jewellery brand coming out of Sweden, Murky. Emelica Lidman and Mike Årsjö founded Murky Jewellery out of a mutual appreciation for the darker side of silver. Murky is composed of rings, bracelets and hand pieces made from oxidised silver turning the hands of the wearer futuristic, almost cyborg-like. With age, the patina of the oxidised silver will change to create truly unique pieces. We got the chance to see some of these amazing pieces at The December Agency showroom and witness the impressive construction. The pieces are constructed to work seamlessly not only with the wearer but also to open and close with ease. One of our favourite pieces is the forearm cage (below) made up of eight half-bands of silver held together by two rods, one of which slides easily out to enable one to adorn the piece.
Update (09.11.2015): We spoke with Mike from Murky today about the production methods and were ecstatic to learn that they use eco friendly methods to oxidise the silver used in their pieces. Taking inspiration from ancient civilisations, Murky uses natural materials, such as eggs and hair, to produce the colour on each piece. Also, we appreciate that Murky goes out of their way to use recycled silver throughout the collections.
