into [into] was by far one of the more innovative accessory labels we have come across in quite a while. The brand, where accessories are really works of art, was conceived by Russian artist Into Niilo in 2015. The brand is inspired by nature and natural processes like physics and chemistry. The name of the brand came from the English preposition into [intu:] which means movement towards. And into, the artist's name, means "inspiration" in Finnish. The name is itself a fractal: into[into:].
Into Niilo first studied at Moscow State University of Design and Technology before going on to the University of Arts London, London College of Fashion. The brand grew out of the author's BA degree collection, named [into [into]]. The collection contained 2 fully developed chapters, Chapter 1: currents and Chapter 3: crystallization, which contained garments, footwear and accessories. These chapters were presented at Moscow Fashion Week in 2014.
In the slow fashion movement, fashion should be without season, and this is the into [into] approach to creating collections. Instead, the brand is divided into chapters, each inspired by certain natural processes. So far, there are three chapters:
Chapter 1: currents, inspired by movement and electricity;
Chapter 2: magma [magmetic];
Chapter 3: crystallization.
The chapters use a unique mix of materials, from wood and leather to acrylic, metal powder and magnets.
The brand continues to evolve in interesting and unexpected directions. More experiments are in progress, and we will eagerly await the next chapters as soon as the artist is completely satisfied with the results.
For now, you can see the Chapters in pictures.
