It was so great catching up with some of my favourite amazing designers and having the opportunity to see how they've reimagined their brand stories into this latest collection. Emerging German brand 07A has always intrigued me as they are completely innovative in their entire process, from design to construction. This latest edition, #03, was no different. Like their previous work, Edition #03 focuses on simple geometric shapes draping into extraordinary garments through the use of taped seams (no stitching here) which are places in just the right places. This use of taped seams along with laser cut edges provides a significant technical challenge in constructing the garments, but as I've been told by the designer Sinisa, that is where the excitement lies.
For Edition #03, one main difference besides the garments themselves was the choice of fabric. While the fabric in Edition #02 was softer, this PVC bonded polyester for the latest edition was surprisingly light. In certain places, two layers of polyester were placed together at opposite angles before bonding to add interesting texture. This collection did see one other change, the addition of snaps to certain garments. As this fabric is slightly less forgiving than previous seasons, these functional additions also serve as a great decorative detail. Edition #03 also sees the fusion of simple geometric shapes, as a triangle and a rectangle were developed "flat in section" and you have to unfold the piece to see it's true shape.
As is the case with 07A, this entire photo shoot for the campaign was so thoroughly thought out and works perfectly. Everything from the perfectly sculpted hair to frame the intentionally imperfect face down to the cleanly distressed sneakers coalesce to create a very strong statement.
