As it is now summer and the sun is coming out, we thought we'd bring you an emerging brand you can wear on the beaches! Chromat, the New York based fashion brand, while only coming onto the scene in 2010 almost leaps out of the "emerging" category with all of the exposure they've had. Besides most recently showing up in Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" and Paris Hilton's "High Off My Love" music videos, Chromat designs have been seen on nearly every pop culture diva from Madonna, Beyoncé, Tyra Banks and Nicki Minaj to Azealia Banks, F.K.A Twigs, Ariana Grande and Laverne Cox and so many more. Chromat is also becoming known for putting on an amazing show and challenging all convention by using models of all shapes, sizes and gender identifications in their shows and imagery. Besides just simply working with a diverse range of models, designer Becca McCharen makes certain to enlist the support of a diverse team, including the choice not to work solely with straight, white male fashion photographers.
Chromat designs truly showcase designer Becca McCharen's background in architecture and urban design. The collections consist of mainly lingerie (lingerie inspired pieces) swimwear, harness structures, some masks and footwear with one main signature, the look of almost a superhero, exoskeletal-like construction. The pieces show the strength of the woman and her desire to stand out from the crowd. The Formula 15 collection for Spring Summer 2015 is currently in stores and continues on with the brand's signature style. The latest collection, Mindfiles for Autumn Winter 2015consists of swimwear and apparel made use of 3D printing and sensor technology showing just how forward thinking the brand is in terms of how and of what fashion of tomorrow will be made.
If you aren't afraid of tan lines this summer, you can shop Chromat's swimwear on their site. You can also see more on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo, Tumblr and they've even got their own Wikipedia entry.
