In May, we first profiled the emerging Bulgarian fashion label Minoár and now we get to bring you an update as their Crust of the Moon menswear collection for Spring Summer 2016 is now out there. Crust of the Moon is only the second Spring Summer menswear collection, though with the strength of the brand message, you could be mistaken in believing they have been around the block for years. The collection is so aptly named as the textures of some of the calf skin leather garments was produced to look exactly as it says, like the surface of our moon. They have also created a technique to knit leather allowing it to be a lightweight, breathable piece that will last for many seasons. It is extremely impressive that the brand can create such works of art all the while using natural fabrics, such as hemp yarn and (even more impressive) a washable paper yarn, while showing their artisan skills with hand-crafted wood buttons. Crust of the Moon also has some of the signatures of previous collections, such as impeccable leather work, layers and unconventional shapes. Our absolute favourite from this collection is the red textured leather jacket. This season, Minoár have added a couple of shoes to the collection as well. We also appreciate that around 90% of the garments and accessories are produced in-house in Bulgaria, helping bit by bit to support fashion manufacturing in Europe. Take a look below at the look book shots.
The team at Minoár are very busy working on the womenswer collection for SS16 and we are looking forward to bringing that one to you as soon as we can.
