It was so great to speak with emerging jewellery designer Adam Kelleher-Roulston while in Paris and hear how is extensive travels have influenced his work.
Unrefined jewellery is the perfect description of his appeal. Adam is a self-taught jewellery designer who has taken inspiration from a lifetime of travel to the farthest reaches of the world, from his home in Australia to the Far East, Africa and Europe. Each piece is designed to focus on the imperfect and highlight flaws. Rather than refine each piece to perfection, they are left in a state of unprocessed, organic beauty allowing them to capture a moment or emotion.
Each piece has been inspired by a memory or object obtained after years of exploring the most beautiful and exotic places on earth. Nothing is mass-produced. Every single item is made entirely by hand using traditional and ancient techniques combined with contemporary practices and aesthetics, allowing each piece to possess unique qualities.
This jewellery designed to become a part of its wearer’s life; by allowing them to age and alter with time, the beauty of each object increases.
Every scratch is a part of its history.
