Down in the grotto of Ozone Showroom this past season in Paris, I was greeted by an amazing new shoe brand called TRIPTYCH from New York City. They were there, like everyone else, to show their latest wares for this upcoming Spring Summer 2017 season and it was a delightful surprise to come across this amazing brand.
In the footwear business, it is difficult to see something that hasn't already been done, yet that is exactly what you get from TRIPTYCH. They had quite the selection on display, ranging from dressier heels to casual styles. While the footwear market is very saturated, TRIPTYCH has used interesting materials and shapes to create something special. They have even managed to create these great pieces while keeping comfort at the centre of their designs. They've used geometric shapes, unexpected openings, asymmetric wedges and structured soft shapes to create these unique styles.
Beyond the cool heels and the centred seams on some of the styles, I especially love the mixed use of materials and interesting cuts. The use of leather and metallic suede is easy to mess up, but they've created some stunning pieces with that exact combination. While I love a bit of black and white, I love these flat styles with this addition of pop colours like bright yellow, green and a beautiful blue.
TRIPTYCH also focuses on the artisanal nature of their work. Each piece is hand-crafted in Milan in the same factory that crafts some big name labels, such as Prada and Margiela to name a few. These timeless, seasonless and some genderless pieces allow each wearer to express their own individuality.
Enjoy!
