Continuing on with our journey to Asian fashion capital in South Korea, we got the opportunity to see Chess, the latest womenswear collection by emerging label Unoccupied Lab. They are masters at taking an all black collection and making it truly phenomenal.
This latest collection for Spring Summer 2017 is a modern, more avant-garde take on traditional Asian style. Where perhaps the women in the past who would wear these garments would have been meek, these women now exude strength in their style.
Their strength is both in their pattern cutting and their exceptional eye for quality when it comes to the fabrics they chose for their pieces. For Chess, they've used very geometric shapes throughout a majority of the collection and putting them together to create extremely flattering garments.
Unoccupied Lab also used an interesting mix of fabrics throughout the collection as well. There are sheer, light fabrics in the same piece as a more rigid, cotton poplin. The treatments of the fabric also add texture and volume in some places.
